Definition of Cloud Storage API

Cloud storage API is a set of specialized programming libraries / procedures that enable accessing, copying and editing data stored on a remote cloud storage server. It is designed for and used by web application and services to access cloud storage capacity from a cloud storage service provider infrastructure.

Brief Description of Cloud Storage API

Web applications requests services and operations from the remote cloud storage server through the integrated cloud storage API, provided by the service provider. Typically these API’s are designed over REST and SOAP software architectures that enable the retrieving of data stored over distributed database systems such as cloud and web storage mechanisms.

Cloud storage API also enables remote data management services and compromise of functionalities such as adding and removing a large amount of data objects, session initiation and termination, and other storage management functionalities.
