Colocation is a process or service in which business outsource computing, data storage on servers. This service is provided by organizations that provide storage space on servers as a third party. It is mainly done by organization offering web hosting services and sometimes by different co-location facilities located outside the organization.

Brief Description of Colocation

Colocation or co-location is referred to as a process or service that enables business to outsource their organizational data security or storage to a third party organization known as a co-location facility. These facilities are designed specifically to store data on rented spaces provided on servers. This practice enables businesses to store, backup, centralize and secure organizational data. This practice is mainly provided by Web hosting and Internet Service Providers, who ensure elimination of latency and redundancy within the system. Colocation provides cost effective bandwidth and safety and security of data.
