Server consolidation refers to a shared physical server resource for several applications and services.
How Server Consolidation does works?
Concept of Server consolidation is used to fulfill the multiple needs of server resources within organization economically.
A single server resource is shared among the all needing applications and services instead of assigning a separate server to each application or service.
Generally, less than 20 of server’s capacity are utilized when it is occupied by a single or two applications. But in case of server consolidation, multiple services or applications are assigned to a single server which maximizes the capacity utilization of that server.
In this way the hardware cost of multiple servers is also reduced and a single server is used to fulfill the resource need of all residing applications and services.
How and where Server Consolidation is used?
Concept of server consolidation is used in large organizations and cloud computing environments to utilize the server needs efficiently.
