How does Thin Provisioning works?

Thin provisioning works like Virtual Provisioning. The only difference between the two terms is that Virtual Provisioning is used to manage storage spaces in virtual environment and thin provisioning is used to manage the simple computing environments i.e. Physical hard disk.
