Virtual File Allocation Table (VFAT) is a type of software driver which helps in storing data files on the systems with long names.

How Virtual File Allocation Table (VFAT) does works?

Virtual File Allocation Table (VFAT) is basically an augmentation of File Allocation table (VTF) and is compatible with Windows 95 and later operating systems.

Unlike its prior, it allows users to store a file on its system with a limit of 225 characters in file name whereas its prior was capable of allowing 8 characters at maximum in a file name.

How and where Virtual File Allocation Table (VFAT) is used?

Virtual File Allocation Table (VFAT) is installed on 32 bit operating systems (Windows 8 or later versions).
