What is Virtual Network Adapter?

Standard
Definition of Virtual Network Adapter

Virtual Network Adapter is basically a virtual form of physical network adaptor which means it is software which is used as an instance of physical network adaptor and performs all of the tasks a physical network adaptor can do.

How Virtual Network Adapter does works?

Virtual Network Adapter is used to connect different devices to the network. These devices may include both physical and virtual computing devices.

Each virtual network adapter is separately configured and is assigned a separate IP address.

Thus every Virtual Network Adapter is considered as a separate device but virtually allocated instead of physical instance.

How and where Virtual Network Adapter is used?

In virtual environments, mostly Virtual Network Adapters are mostly used instead of multiple physical network adapters for each computing device.
