Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) is a cloud based data storage service provided by Amazon Inc.  It provisions on-demand cloud storage used for web scalable online applications and services. The data on Amazon S3 is stored in the form of objects.

Brief Description of Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)

Amazon S3 cloud storage is primarily designed for application developers and software publishers, which require scalable storage on run time for cloud and web applications. The cloud storage provisioned through Amazon S3 can easily be adjusted to the dynamics of changing web or cloud application requirements. The subscribers can store any type and size of data.

The data can be accessed over the internet using open source API’s, REST & SOAP interfaces.  Each user’s data is stored in data buckets, which can be deployed on different regional servers or content delivery networks to reduce data latency.
