AMD Virtualization (AMD – V) is a technology created by AMD systems that provide enhanced virtual machine management and operations on AMD x86 powered desktops, servers and data centers. AMD V is also known as AMD Secure Virtual Machine (AMD SVM) and was also codenamed “Pacifica” before its launch.

Brief Description of AMD Virtualization

AMD Virtualization is primarily a set of hardware based virtualization extension on the x86 architecture. It is designed to provide better virtualization services that its predecessor computing architecture. Key notable development in the AMD V includes resource sharing within virtual machines, more operating system options and better overall performance. Its hardware based cloud computing architecture manages virtualization emulation more efficiently than the software based virtualization as it directly supports . AMD V Technology is part of Opteron, Turion & Phenom processors series.
