Cloud agent is the small software that is installed to the cloud server instances in order to provide security, monitoring, and analysis solution for IaaS cloud. They actually provide information and helps to provide control over cloud entities.

You can gather relevant information from the cloud server where the agent is installed in. What it does, it actually sends the information to your main control system. Due to this kind of control you are able to control the security at the instance level. For example, you can know the host firewall setup and traffic flow to and from the cloud servers. Thus it gives you the ability to configure firewall on each of the server. This gives security to the systems and also provide ability to protect your cloud environment in the future.
