Cloud Monitoring

What is CloudWatch?

CloudWatch is part of Amazon Web Services (AWS). CloudWatch, as the name suggests, is a monitoring service that lets you keep tabs on the AWS resources and customer applications active on the Amazon infrastructure.

Brief Description of CloudWatch

CloudWatch is used for various AWS resources like Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) volumes, Amazon RDS database, Elastic Load Balancers, Amazon EC2 and others. Just like any monitoring tool, AWS CloudWatch shows the data in different metrics like latency, request counts, CPU utilization etc. Also, customers can set customized metrics like error occurrences, volume of transactions, memory usage etc. The stats can be viewed in graphs. Users can also set notifications for particular updates.
