In a cloud environment, the external cloud is typically part of a hybrid or community cloud. An external cloud is one in which externally provided services are utilized in cloud computing methods, such as cloud storage or cloud antiviruses. The data necessary for processing is submitted to a cloud offsite where it is processed and the results are then returned to an internal cloud.

Brief Description of External Cloud

An external cloud which is also known as a public cloud refers to a clouding model where the information is available to multiple customers over the public internet. It is provided mainly by a third party that is present outside the limits of an organization. It provides external services like storage, security through antiviruses etc. In an external or public cloud the data is provided as input and the cloud outside the organization produces the desired output. Services offered by the external cloud are either free or they are provided on the pay-per-use mechanism. However, issues regarding security, compliance and jurisdictions are still a major concern.
