What is Virtual to Physical (V2P)?

Definition of Virtual to Physical (V2P)

Virtual to Physical (V2P) is a process of converting a virtual machine into a physical machine without any change in the data and state of virtual machine.

How Virtual to Physical (V2P) does works?

Virtual to Physical (V2P) is also known as Virtual to Physical (V2P) migration because it involves the migration of all attributes of virtual machine to a physical machine.

This process is mostly done by the involvement of third party that is mostly migration software. Firstly, the compatibility of both hardware and software of virtual and physical machine is checked. A snapshot of virtual machine’s operating system is captured and transferred to the physical machine and then physical machine is configured exactly like the snapshot by installing all the required drivers and application along with the operating system (OS).

How and where Virtual to Physical (V2P) is used?

Virtual to Physical (V2P) is used in scenarios where there is a need to transform a virtual machine into a physical machine by migrating all data and applications.
